Reviews
Neil Evans (05/06/2019)
There are enough good reviews on here to suggest that my experience was an anomaly but nonetheless, I paid a lot of money (>£20k) for a kitchen in the expectation of a top of the range product and fitting experience, but this has not been the case. The showroom and the team were great and after seeing the quality and finish of the kitchens on display I decided I would spoil myself. The designers came up with some neat ideas, they were flexible with keeping some existing appliances and they accommodated some wishes of mine such as not having a gap between the units and the ceiling. We tweaked things around a bit and they were able to reduce the price of the installation a bit as it is a fairly simple galley kitchen. I paid for the kitchen up front as requested, a date was chosen and I was told that the installer would be Bill (not real name) and that the painter (who is excellent) would be Ben (not real name). Bill also agreed to install a pocket door between the living room and kitchen as extra work. Bill requested a large chunk of the fitting fee to be paid up front, which is not something that had been discussed. It was at this point that I found out the fitter was a regular subcontractor and not a direct employee of Artisan. Bill turned up for a pre-survey of the kitchen, the additional building works were discussed and I vacated the house to allow the fit to start without me getting in the way. I returned home after a week to check up on progress and was pretty dismayed with what I found. The finish on the pocket door was dreadful, the cantilever shelves were drooping down, there was a large gap between the top of the units and the ceiling, and the floor looked dreadful, with large visible undulations. There were some animated discussions and Artisan volunteered to sort out the shelves and the floor. It was agreed that there was a disconnect between the design and the installation in terms of the gap above the units and it was agreed to lower the ceiling. This wasn't a bad thing as it gave the opportunity to install some better lights but this was at extra cost and should have been identified during the pre-survey. What bothered me most is that had I not returned home to check up on the fit, the kitchen would have progressed with these problems unresolved and I don't understand why nobody from Artisan was checking up on the installation. The problems with the floor and the shelves were obvious and I can’t believe that Bill was prepared to walk away from it satisfied with the quality of the work. Next came the fun with painter/decorator. Ben wasn't available to paint the kitchen as promised so Bill sourced some other guys to do the work and they were and they were a disaster. By their own admission they normally painted student accommodation and the quality of the painting was appalling. This setback was also resolved by Artisan as they were able to get hold of Ben to put right the mess that had been left by the other guys. Artisan agreed to replace the vinyl floor with something that they said would conceal the unevenness of the underlying floor. My old tiles that were removed were not uneven but the base floor underneath must have been. Regardless of that, the self-levelling screed that was applied did not level out the floor sufficiently (a point of disagreement with Artisan), so when the vinyl floor was applied it looked dreadful. The solution proposed by Artisan/Bill was a click-together floor with a thin layer of underlay. Unfortunately, you can still feel the undulations of the unevenness underneath and a few of the edges visibly protrude and pop up again after being patted down with a rubber mallet. Artisan's view is that the floor looks a lot better than it did and that I am making a mountain out of a molehill. My view is that £20k is a big molehill. In short, the kitchen looks great, the floor doesn't, and the installation process is something that I would rather forget.

Danny from Schuller Kitchens is not only knowledgable but incredibly creative with his designs. He put together exactly what I wanted for an apartment of mine and the work was carried out with exceptional care, consideration and fantastic attention to detail. I bought the property for £120k and sold it two years later for £170k and I have no doubt his efforts played a huge part in that. I would not hesistate to recommend him and his colleagues to anyone. Their work is outstanding and they are a pleasure to work with from start to finish.

Quality product and Service, it's true what they say 'You only get what you pay for'. Since having the kitchen fitted I have contacted Danny to ask silly question in regards to fridge filters etc... he has taken time out to not only purchase them on my behalf but he also called over my house to show me how to install them !!! Would highly recommend Schuller Kitchens by Artisan Thanks again Wayne & Amy
