Friendly staff reasonable price opened late

Unpleasant guy behind the counter tried to charge £1.80 for a snickers bar - more than twice the price even in other convenience stores.When questioned he took the money back out of the till, slammed it on the counter. Stupid and rude, or dishonest and greedy? Or just something lost in translation between two cultures? Whatever, beware!
