Beautiful, quiet grounds. Found out about this place from Atlas Obscura and thoroughly enjoyed the stroll around the beautiful gardens and of course, the Hardy Tree.

Located on a mound in one of London's most intriguing lesser known public gardens this former graveyard is rich in historical association. The Hardy Tree with somewhat tenuous and apocryphal connections to the author. Probably sprinkled with the fairy-dust of folklore. But it certainly resonates as anecdotal fodder. “ we late lamented resting here are mixed to human jam and each to each explaining in fear I know not which I am” Thomas Hardy.

Beautiful churchyard with four famous graves.

Information board about the tree on site . The church yard is about 10 mins walk from St. Pancreas station

Very interesting. We wandered around whilst visiting a friend in the nearby hospital (same hospital where Sylvia Plath was a patient). Large church yard with the fascinating Hardy Tree and a tomb that supposedly inspired Gilbert Scott’s iconic telephone box. The lovely church is also worth a visit.
