Genuinely the WORST surgery I have ever dealt with. If you are lucky to get an appointment after, in some cases being on hold for nearly an hour and having to trawl through all the phone messages and options consider yourself VERY lucky. Thats once the rude and unprofessional receptionists speak to you like dirt, don't listen to what you have to say or want to help, and question you about your health and reasons for needing an appointment. MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS ! The doctors themselves are nice enough - Just a shame you have to go through the hell of dealing with their inept reception staff in order to see them (and I do mean HELL). Transferring away from this surgery ASAP

The receptionists here are extremely lovely and stride to go the extra mile to help. They were very compassionate and understanding. Always remember that the people working here are people too, and they're trying to make the best with what they're given. The NHS is sorely underfunded and underappreciated, please don't take it out on the staff.

I put in a prescription for my medication which I have been taking for over 15 years. I gave the surgery over 3 weeks to write my prescription but every time I came to collect my prescription the doctor had filled it out wrong so the Pharmacy could not accept it. On my third visit to the doctors to get my prescription they told me to come back later (the next day) because there was a mistake. Only after yelling and arguing at the doctors to fill it out properly did they fill it out and give me my correct prescription. Every time I asked the doctor why has this happened he told me its the pharmacy's fault for not telling them faster enough about the mistake. They refused to accept any responsibility for this issue. He tried to blame this issue because of the COVID-19 pandemic but this was irrelevant. Its disgusting behaviour to blame a pandemic when the real reason is that they have an uneducated doctor working for them. How can we ask them for advice about our health when they cant fill out a basic form?

It has taken them a while to recover from the early retirements of the two former senior partners and the pandemic hasn't helped. However, although I cannot comment on Dr. Ahmed as we haven't met yet, I can rate the other three. Dr. Capatana is not everybody's cup of tea as she is very straight talking but she tells it like it is, is very knowledgeable but doesn't suffer fools gladly. Dr. Cooper is the senior partner and despite being relatively young she is highly qualified and is kind and caring. Dr. Thomas, like Dr. Cooper is very kind, highly qualified and, from my experience, is willing to go that extra mile for her patients. She is a credit to her profession. These last two have the superior bedside manner but that shouldn't deter from Dr. Capatana who ismost proficient. As for the backroom staff, especially the ladies in reception do an amazing job and generally stay polite despite some very aggressive behaviour from worried patients. All GP surgeries are u dear a lot of pressure at the moment but remember they have to fol.ow government guidelines and, in my opinion, Albany Surgery is up there with the best.

Left an appointment at Cathays surgery with 2 open wounds (quite nasty) and was told to ring Albany surgery as I needed them to dress my wounds. I rang 3 times over the period of 45 minutes and was hung up on every time. Even if this was an accident, I walked to Albany surgery and begged for some assistance. I was obviously distressed and in pain, but was continuously told to call again. After I explained that this isn't working, the reception lady raised her voice, got quite rude and was very offended that I said I'd been hung up on. Ended up attempting to dress the wounds myself.
