Had a fabulous stay here. Lots of covid precautions and it was great to be able to book slots in the swimming pool and gym. The beds were comfortable and slept really well - think the black out curtains helped!
Had several meals here - honestly the best steak sandwich of my life!! Had to come back and order it again as it was spool good.
Breakfast is good too and all the staff were helpful and friendly
On the positive side it was covid secure and well marked and the room was clean and comfortable. The communal areas were also scrupulously clean and beautifully decorated. Staff were polite and helpful and appropriately masked etc. However there were several minor issues, not enough for a proper complaint but multiple niggles. The disabled spaces are for some reason not next to the entrance so if you can't walk more than 50 yards you're going to struggle. The main issue however was the dining arrangements. Totally understand the need to book and reduced capacity but it would have been helpful to be advised to book your first dinner and breakfast in advance as the only times that were available on arrival were ridiculously early or late. The food was nice but caught a chill on its way from the kitchen. Again not sure if this is to do with 1 way system etc due to covid but it wasn't the hotest. Wine selection for bar drinks was a choice of 3, white, rosé or red.
Fabulous historic hotel, in a historic town. Great location for walkers and golfers alike. Reasonable bar prices and good food. Pleasant staff and good facilities.
Hotel itself was very beautiful and staff were very friendly. However, there was no drinking water in the rooms as well as AC or Fans, so it did get pretty hot at night. Pillows could be slightly more plump as well, spent half the night sleeping on my arms. On the plus side, they do have a nice restaurant and a very clean bathroom.
Smart hotel with pleasant staff. Breakfast was a complete mess though. Queued in a narrow corridor for 20 minutes even though we had to book a time slot. People were leaving the dining area through the same narrow corridor and people were also passing by with plates of food. We gave up waiting in the end and went to a local cafe instead. The management need to sort this out as the staff were all obviously very young and inexperienced. We were refunded for the breakfasts. Also there were no time slots available for the pool during our 2 night stay even though we tried to book as soon as we arrived at 3pm.
