My Halal Butchers & Grocery

I ordered twice. Excellent service for delivery especially during this pandemic situation. Very clean meat they delivered very quickly. I will always going to buy from them. Will recommend this shop to everyone.

Excellent service, the shop itself is very nice, reasonably priced, clean and well organised but really I wasn't to review the delivery service which is excellent. I recently had an operation and am unable to leave the house and thought I'd try out the service mainly for halal meat and a few extra items. It was so easy to use, arrived on time, the meat was packaged really nicely on trays and looked wonderful. The meat itself is really good quality and you can specify on the ordering system exactly how you want it regarding bone or no, fat, cut and size. It came exactly how I'd chosen it. Delivery is free over £15 too. I will definitely be using this service on a regular basis, and highly recommend to anyone. Thank you you helped make a stressful situation much easier for me. 😊

The shop itself is very clean and tidy. The younger brother and the sister that aren't part of the butcher were very friendly and welcoming. The butcher service I stood around waiting without being told my chicken was ready. This was probably over 15 minutes standing around and I was in view of the butcher. Other butchers usually tell you when the order is ready. Only when another butcher offered to take my order did the butcher say that my order is ready to the other butcher. Didn't even bother to tell me directly even then. Went home and checked the chicken. Fat everywhere on the pieces. All the other butchers I've been to in Cardiff have never been like this. I go back and request a change. The butcher slams new raw chickens on the worktop where customers collect their finished bagged up orders. Rudely asks if this is ok. He was clearly agitated and I was disgusted that he'd even do that, was very awkward. Very unhygienic for the shop and for my order, had to go home and wash the chickens after that. After replacement chickens were cut I was called into the back and rudely told that the fat on the chicken can't be taken off. Whereas on their display chickens and any other butchers, all the fat was taken off? It got awkward and wasn't going anywhere so I just took my order and left. No use trying to request any further changes as the butcher was just getting defensive and argumentative. Shame really because the first time I came here it was great, that was a few weeks ago. Very rude butcher (which I don't usually mind it's fine) but terrible order. I've attached pictures for people to make their own judgements. The pictures are of the replacement chicken, still the same. Was told nothing can be done about the fat. Again, their display chickens and other butchers however are fat free and clean. This was far from the usual standard that most people expect and from the other butchers in Cardiff. I'm not one to complain about these things usually as food is food but this is appalling and unnecessary. EDIT 12/10/2020 (in response to the owner): Your shop was more than welcome to check the 3 original chickens brought back. In response to checking the old chickens, it was a knee-jerk polite reaction to say these are fine at a glance, as I just wanted to get out of your shop at this point with the new chickens. This was mainly due to your butcher slamming the new raw chickens rudely on the counter space, and asking if these are fine, where finished orders are bagged and collected. This is really unhygienic. This was my fault, I should have not said the chickens were fine out of nervousness and should have taken a moment to look at the chickens and then respond accordingly. But again, it was a very awkward atmosphere at that point. If you had wanted to openly ask me what was wrong with the old chickens instead of trying to do so with indirect ways, I'd have happily pointed out what I was unhappy with. Which I did, I pointed out the fat on the drumsticks and scattered all over the other pieces on the old chickens. But I was then told that nothing can be done about this. I wanted to point out to you both how come your display chickens look like the usual standard that most receive? I'd have happily taken one of those cut into pieces. But at this point it was just tense and awkward for me and I just wanted to get out of your shop as it was going nowhere. The pictures I've attached to this review is of the new chickens that were given to me. I've never received chicken with this much fat on it, especially the drumstick. I don't understand why all your display chickens are fat free and clean, whereas even with a changed order, I still was given the standard shown in the pictures? Hope this is more of an honest review for you and clarifies a few things.

Small asian shop, not expensive, worth trying..will buy again
