I was referred here by my GP for suspected Uveitis and was seen within half an hour and able to commence early treatment. This is a hugely valuable service and avoid a trip to accident and emergency. The ophthalmologist was extremely clear in explaining the diagnosis and had an excellent patient manner and was clearly dedicated to his profession. Excellent and crucial service for Cardiff, well done!

Went here to help my friend pick out some frames and in the process got my own glasses adjusted and fixed! . Really polite and friendly staff and excellent precautions taken regarding Covid.

Wow. Really impressed today with DirectEye care on Clifton Street that I went to for my routine eye test. I stumbled on the practice a few years ago when I needed new lenses for my glasses and didn't want to send my frames away. I found the staff to be extremely knowledgeable about lenses providing guidance about different types of coatings / options (much more so than anywhere else I had called for quotes). My new lenses were made on site from measurements taken from my frames and I was able to keep my current glasses until they were made. They were fitted in about a week or two. They had a number compliant procedures regarding coronavirus and was the only patient there during my appointment. Procedures included temperature checking, use of visors / masks, and hand sanitiser. It was easy to social distance. I felt very safe. Their premises were really clean and they have undergone a professional refit. The optometrist was very knowledgeable and explained the eye test and findings to me. They have state of the art eye scanning equipment and can do a very detailed scan of the back of the eye (this specialist scan is called an OCT). This can detect very early problems with vision from the detailed part of eye (macula) that could lead to sight saving treatment. This type of equipment is not routinely found in most opticians and the scan is very reasonably priced (£10). As a health professional I was interested to learn more about the enhanced services available at DirectEyecare including new ways of working that were set up during the coronavirus period and likely to extend long term. This included the availability of an independent prescriber on some days who can prescribe treatment in lieu of eye casualty. They do see people from different parts of Cardiff which is useful to know to signpost patients to their service. Fantastic, professional practice and won't be going elsewhere again for my eyes. Highly recommended to all.
