Oh my goodness. We found this place on line whilst visiting Cheltenham for a few days and booked ahead as requested. I hate noisy restaurants as I’m quite noise sensitive, but it was fine in here. In fact, their music was a welcome choice at just the right sound level. We were very well looked after, in particular by Hazel. I had the ribs to start and my partner had the scallops. Both were perfect. I then had the sirloin and he the ribeye, both medium well. I have had to send back steak in a few places as it’s normally too bloody. However, I have to say aside from being a huge steak, it was cooked to perfection and the best steak I’ve ever had. It was probably a bit much food for me though as I struggled to eat it. As the only current option is the 3 course meal, we had to ask for our desserts to be wrapped up to take away as we were both too stuffed. This wasn’t an issue for them. I’d highly recommend The Ox. It’s more expensive then we’d normally choose, but the food was worth it and it was an enjoyable evening.

Lovely relaxing atmosphere. Food beautiful and freshly cooked. Staff are friendly, polite and attentive to your needs 10 out of 10 excellent 👍

Wish I had the option of minus stars. We had dinner there on Friday and it was a huge disappointment 1) we ordered the sharing platter - the starters were rubbish and honestly you cant share it between two people firstly because its not edible and even if you lose all sense of taste and try it there wouldn't be enough. 2) When the mains did come out it wasn't appealing , you would lose appetite right away when you see 30oz of meat just thrown on a board ! The steaks were cooked in salt, the salad was horrible and the fries were limp ! 3) We shared the so called sharing platter among two people, the menu said 45 pp but they don't say is if two people share it they would charge you 90£ but you would get one board of horrid starters and salt filled steaks. If there was a third person sharing this they would charge you 135£ but the same quantity would come out. 4) the dessert was stale ice cream 5) Definitely not worth the price you would be better off at Wetherspoons a few minutes away. IF YOU THINK YOU YOUR STOMACH CAN MANAGE A WHOLE NIGHT ON THE TOILET THEN THIS IS THE PLACE !
