This is the most wonderful hotel and restaurant. Stunning food and room. Total perfection! We dined in the restaurant in the evening and had the best meal of my life! Really well priced also. Truly unforgettable experience, we will be going back!

So warm and welcoming. Very attentive staff. My gin elderflower fizz was mixed perfectly and had a wonderful kick, which can so often not be the case with cocktails I find, and was served with a gorgeous hot canapé pre-dinner booking. The Gun Room where food is served is interesting and ambient and the food was divine! Beautifully made with undoubtedly top quality ingredients. They make a real event of the food and it was wonderful. Our room, Peregrine, was newly decorated and beautiful, and one of my favourite things was looking at all the old photos of the dynasty family, the Armstrong Joneses. So eccentric and interesting! From the photos on Google I wasn't expecting 5 star somehow (I thought it looked a bit like a bungalow though I didn't examine the rest of the photos) but this place really exceeded my expectations. It was a touch of luxury and I very much look forward to staying again.

The property was more modest and less grand than I expected, although the service was genuine and welcoming. We felt staff did what they could to help us. Very good Covid measures in place, although guests should note there are only two sittings for dinner - 6pm and 8pm. The breakfast is also staggered and guests must pre-order. However, Covid measures don't detract from the stay if you're a little organised. The room was clean, well appointed although had a couple of maintenance issues. The rooms were just about warm enough - but only just. The breakfast, in particular the vegetarian breakfast and avocado on toast were disappointing. The vegetarian breakfast was nice, but not very filling, whilst the cooked breakfast was reasonable. The avocado was hard and not ripe.
