This was an experiment by two 70+ people who have never camped before and never driven a motorhome before. We needed to see if this was the answer to the problem of trying to holiday safely in the era of Covid 19, drunken Covidiots on planes, uncertain hotel disinfecting practices, etc We were referred to McRent by Motorhome Republic, and both organisations were excellent in all respects: Thanks to the helpful videos produced by McRent, the first time ever of emptying the black water(poo) tank, and the grey water tank (sink water) weren't too challenging. The second and third times were just routine. Whenever I phoned for help (e.g. how do we lock the doors from the inside? What is AdBlue? Where do I put it?) I was given friendly, prompt and accurate advice. The motorhome, a Dethleff with one full width bed and one elevating bed, was clearly well under a year old: by the time we had finished with it, it still only had 3000 miles on the clock. It was in excellent condition and built to a very high standard. Things I didn't like about the Motorhome: 1) The hard, sometimes jarring ride on Britain's poorly maintained motorways (M3, M27, M25) but it seems that it's a feature of the way motorhomes are built. People tell us that this isn't a problem on the mainland of Europe where the motorways are properly maintained. 2) The full width bed is accessed via a short step ladder. This is fine if you are under 40 years of age. At 70+ in the middle of the night when you need to use the lavatory it's a real pain (literally if your delicate parts come into contact with the top of the ladder)! 3) Kitchen lacks a decent workspace area. Things I liked about the motorhome: 1) FREEDOM! 2) Incredibly comfortable bed. Better than the one we paid lots and lots of money for as our main bed at home. 3) Remarkably easy to drive, even when compared to our 2 seater convertible Conclusions: 1) McRent and Motorhome Republic proved to be excellent people to do business with 2) We shall repeat the experiment as soon as we can with a different layout of vehicle. You don't know what you don't like until you've tried it, and McRent have so many different configurations of vehicle, I don't think we'll find it difficult to get close to our ideal layout 3) People who visit campsites and people who run campsites are incredibly friendly - That helps a lot when you have spent most of the last 7 months in isolation. Note: McRent London don't have any parking space for visitors' cars. When you get there you'll see why. We used JustPark. We found a space in Royal Avenue , Waltham Cross. The cost is low, the area is quiet and it's only a 15-20 minute walk from McRent London.

Shocking service. DO NOT USE. We would have given no stars if we could. When we called to say that the van had broken down the lady on the phone laughed. When we took the van back the manager and the staff did not care.
