Thomas alleyne academy is a decent school but they don't deal with the bullies as well as some and the class rooms are way too noisey so i think they need to be more strict about classroom noises and a bit softer on the random things e.g.stepping On grass and making a big deal about it - I can't learn there because of the insane classrooms and wild students but I love the lessons and if people were quieter then I would give 5 stars and if people didn't bully me then I would give manly positive feedback but the teachers are ok they just need to step up, if your child is a trouble maker then this isn't the best place because they won't learn how to behave properly but if you have to send them here then try to teach them good manners and respect for others not just there friend or multiple, HAVE A GOOD DAY!!!!!!

Very happy with how my daughter is doing here. They take pastoral care seriously here and they are setting realistic but increasingly high standards for the kids without relentlessly streaming them. The emphasis is on achieving your own potential - stretching yourself. There have been a lot of extra activities open to students and generally in my experience as a parent - the school has a happy relaxed inclusive atmosphere. It has been plagued by under investment in previous years but the new academy status has brought some of the cash its needed and it benefits from some very old buildings and historic links to Cambridge Uni. and Westminster Abby. The school itself has been there for over 400 years. Now part of an academy with links to North Hert.s college - there is huge potential here for kids to specialize very early by tailoring the environments in which they study. While all cover the same basic syllabus, the style and focus in different areas of the school in the older years, allows kids to get a head start if they have particular interests and are motivated to pursue them. If your child isn't sure what they want to do (and few are!) there is good support to help them chose and a very good range of choices. However - be aware. Post GCSE, the standards are very high, so if you want to stay on in the school for a specific set of A Levels - you need to decide the GCSE choices carefully and check the standards required. Generally you need an A or B grade in specified Subjects to take a related A level. Also, only certain combinations of A levels and alternative courses will be available based on your grades and subjects taken at GCSE. Precisely because there are so many options here, you need to "read the small print" very carefully when making choices at 13. It pays to make it clear to students - (and this probably applies to all schools in the town), "Ability is not enough - students need to be self motivated and active learners who put in consistent hard work". The school and staff will genuinely do all they can to help - but in the end success is down to the kids themselves. On that basis - if you feel you are not getting what you need from the school go talk to them - I have found they will do all they reasonably can and the expectations set for the teachers are just as high as for students.
