Having never done anything physical for a number of years, at the age of 47 my wife and I decided we wanted to do something to get improve our overall fitness. We knew we knew we would need to seek out a Personal Trainer to give us the motivation. From the offset Ben was brilliant. After an initial conversation by phone Ben visited us at home to have a full consultation. We instantly felt at ease.
We initially had circuit sessions in our garden together, however within a few months our confidence had grown and Ben suggested we might like to try a session at the gym with him. That was back in September 2018 and now we both love going to the gym and haven’t looked back. Yes at times it tough but Ben has the experience and knowledge of when to push me, and more importantly when to ease back and change things. His vast knowledge and ability to support clients both physically and nutritionally sets him apart from the rest.
I now have weekly sessions with Ben and also train independently using session plans he provides and updates each week. He praises us and challenges us at the right times and makes each session and workout interesting and fun.
Now 18 months on I feel my progress has been significant, its not just been about lifting heavier weights, its also been about improving overall fitness, and I put this down to the fact that I look forward to training and with Ben’s support I look after myself more out of the gym too.
And to top it all Ben is a great guy and someone we think of as a friend.
I started training with George shortly after joining the gym and having suffered a series of medical problems in an effort to change my body and give me a focus in life. I was extremely nervous and self-conscious, but George was very open and put me at ease straight away. I very quickly realised that this was going to be something we would do together, rather than the ‘mentor/client’ image I’d been so scared of.
Each week we work on a different muscle group, with new exercises and techniques each time. I feel pushed when working with George, but not to the point where I feel uncomfortable; he always respects my limits (although he does keep the pressure on when required!). Our sessions are challenging and stimulating, giving me the push I need to train when I’m on my own. When I don’t understand something or get an exercise wrong he never makes me feel stupid, just reminds me how to do it as if it were the first time.
George has not only helped me to understand what and how to train in the gym, but also about what I am eating and the importance of good nutrition. He is always on hand to offer advice, no matter how trivial it may seem, and gives me fresh ideas to help with the diet when I’m hitting a bit of a wall. His personalised diet plans are varied and easy to follow, making achieving your goals relatively straight forward (albeit with a large dose of will power!).
I really look forward to training with George as it is always not only rewarding, but good fun. I know that he wants me to succeed as much as I do, and will help me however he can. Without his expert knowledge and support I would never have achieved the results I have in such a short space of time. I look forward to continuing to work together for many more hours of blood, sweat and tears to come.
As someone who was always keen on fitness and the gym, I always wanted that 'cover model body'. For a while I made a fair bit of progress, but quickly found myself stuck for ideas, and not getting that feeling of a 'great workout'. Ben explained to me that my 'low fat' diet needed to change, along with my training. Ben's knowledge of nutrition was priceless. The progressive nutrition plan he gave me along with the fresh exercise plan, changed my physique completely. Each week I looked more defined, yet my scale weight stayed pretty much the same. Ben explained this was to do with achieving 'optimal body compostition' (in other words, putting on muscle weight and losing fat weight). This concept made me view my training and my body in a completlely different way. From now on with Ben's help, its not scale weight I try to shred, it's fat.
