Reception staff, sitting in back office waiting 10min while they were having a chat not work related. Asked to change room as the heating was on 35° when we arrived which made the room far too uncomfortable to stay in. We switched heating off and opened window but didn't really make a difference. She said you can move to family room, I'll credit back £20.00 for the down grade. We agreed this would be fine. As we walked away, we could hear her and another member of staff laughing. I sincerely hope this wasn't aimed at us. We move the to the family room which seems better than the deluxe room we originally had. However, the hotel in general is really rather grubby and dated. Stained carpets, scuffs and scratches on walls and skirting boards are covered in dust, worn furniture in rooms. As we are in a pandemic, I would have thought cleanliness should be paramount. A comfortable stay. Good room and even managed to book a swim and a jacuzzi. On the whole the food was good and service was friendly and welcoming for our party of 7.

We organised our annual golf break and chose Dunston Hall after visiting it and getting an excellent introduction to all the facilities from the then manager Martin. During our stay we were looked after exceptionally well by Catrin Long and all staff from reception, bars, restaurant and pro shop. All staff were particularly friendly and helpful despite the current Covid measures in place. We took great pleasure in seeing our 22 friend enjoy a great two days golfing, wining and dining. Dunston Hall is a jewel in the Q Hotel crown and we look forward to trying other Q Hotel venues in the future.

This is a lovely building and setting. We thoroughly enjoyed gin and tonic on the terrace. Enjoyed a ground floor room with patio doors very much in the lovely weather. Evening meal was very good. Breakfast poor with little choice. Room a bit tired. Service in the bar awful (much better in the restaurant). Lots going for this place but they perhaps could do more to get their act together (recognising that we are in the middle of a pandemic!)

We booked up for a surprise anniversary party and friendly meeting over 3 days, we were not disappointed. The hotel and location were lovely, the food was Delicious. Our room was a little dated but very comfortable. The general manager David and his staff were excellent and very friendly and helpfull. We would definitely stay here again without hesitation.
