I booked afternoon tea for 5, as a treat for my Mum's birthday. Within our party there was a 16 year old and an eleven year old. We opted for the 'marvellous' afternoon tea, because we're greedy and along with the usual suspects, there was the addition of soup, mini fish and chips and a quiche. The fish and chips were amazing and came with tartare sauce and mushy peas - they were wonderfully hot and delicious! The soup came in a tiny little teacup (it is described as a 'taste of soup') and was thick and delicious. There was also quiche which was good too. The range of sandwiches and cakes were great too - even for the aforementioned 11 year old. We opted to feed her an adult portion, but the table opposite had a children's one which looked perfect for smaller/younger kids. The service was amazing. It felt like a real treat, especially with the teacups, saucers and side plates - very vintage! I would recommend the food here in a heartbeat especially the afternoon tea. We can't wait to go back and try something else.

Went for the Christmas afternoon tea. Absolutely fabulous! If I could score ten I would. £29-95 for two people. Mini soup, mini fish and chips. 4 triangle assorted sandwiches,(ham and cheese with cranberry), 3 mini bun halves, ( turkey, with sausage meat stuffing and cranberry, a roast beef and horse radish and a smoked salmon). Mini pigs in blankets. 7 mini sweet treats each. ( I got a takeaway box to put 5 of mine in!)and of course there was tea and coffee. To finish off was a 250ml glass of mulled wine. It was beautifully presented on a 3 tier stand and the table had linen cloth and linen napkins. Real China teacups and Christmas crackers. You do have to book 24 hrs in advance. The service was excellent with friendly staff. We will definitely be back to try a meal.

Went here for the Christmas afternoon tea with my Mum. At £29.95 for two people, it was definitely one of the best value afternoon teas that we have had. It consisted of a small cup of mushroom soup, a small fillet of fish and chips and mini pigs in blankets. Sandwiches included cheese and cranberry, ham and tomato, smoked salmon, roast beef and horseradish, turkey and stuffing. The selection of sweet treats was excellent. Miniature mince pies, stollen, ginger bread biscuits, chocolate mousse star, chocolate and caramel mousse chocolate present and a peanut and white chocolate button. You get a choice of tea or coffee. Mum had to bring most of her sweet treats home, as she couldn't finish them! Each person gets a 250ml glass of hot mulled wine at the end, I had to drink both as my Mum was driving! We will be coming back in the future to try the rest of the extensive menu.

The food here is fantastic. the staff are all lovely and friendly, service is good and the cafe itself has plenty of good seating. There's lots of tables, some by windows with nice views, as well as many comfy chairs and settees if just having drinks and cake. Very relaxed setting. The scones, especially when warm, are up there with the best I've had. The custard pies are so good, twice I've bought them to take out. And both scones and custard pies are huge. Amongst the range of cakes etc they cater for various dietary requirements, including gluten free and vegan. Meal wise, every time we've been the food has been great and better than most pubs etc I've been to recently. Good options, presented well and very tasty. The biggest pull for me is the full vegetarian breakfast, with a pot of tea with soya milk. So, so good. Highly recommended.
