Reviews

I did not write a review at the time as we were so upset the move started well enough and I made the removal guys bacon sandwiches etc there was a delay in obtaining the keys which was out of our control but the timeline for the guys to get back to Norfolk was plenty over 4 hours as we only moved to Lincolnshire however we were bullied by the guys into signing a form to say the service was satisfactory and pressurised by phone calls even though I had kept everyone in the loop it’s difficult to explain but the trauma of the service keeps coming back to me we were threatened with having furniture left outside. Once inside boxes were left upside down and just dumped it was the worst removal experience of my life and I’ve moved over a dozen times. Not professional not recommended.

We used Jarretts today after being recommend by my father in law. The three gentlemen that help with the move were excellent. Very professional and took great care of our belongings. Nothing was too much trouble and would 100% recommend them to anyone.

I chose Jarrets because i am always keen to support local small businesses in preference to national or international companies. I paid for their self-described 'professional' packing services for a domestic removal. As this would include several eighteenth and nineteenth century oil paintings of the Norwich school I asked their representative when he was assessing my household effects if Jarrets staff members were familiar with packing fine art. He said 'Yes, of course.' And i believed him. Big mistake. When packing and removal day arrived what did they do? They simply put my pictures into flattened cardboard boxes/ Yes, that was it. No tissue paper, no protection of the corners of picture frames. No bubble wrap. Clearly they had no idea what they were doing nor of the importance of the pictures they were handling. Fortunately, for my prized possession, a large eighteenth century oil picture, i had preserved a previously used custom-made crate and packed it myself. Another point, I had a large quantity of books, These were also packed with no understanding or respect s that when unpacking I found that many spines had been flattened. A further point is that when (a year later from Jarretts storage) my goods were delivered to my new address I recognised that many boxes had been replaced/repacked. Why this had happened i do not know and Jarretts have been unable or unwilling to provide an answer - citing the excuse of the death of a key employee to hinder their giving an answer. I forgive them the three items of china that were broken in storage/transit (accidents happen) what I cannot and do not forgive are missing items. These are of no very great monetary value but what I really resent is the idea that I would not notice or care. Items range from a group pf Wedgwood Guyatt mugs, rolls of handblocked wallpaper, (actually this was expensive and valuable at £80 a roll.) Jarrettts are not cheap (I had lower quotes from eg Pickfords) and my experience strongly suggests that they are are not to be trusted with antiques/paintings. If you have IKEA flat pack etc then they probably cannot do much harm, but if you have items you value my advice is to avoid placing your removal with them.

In temperatures of 36 degrees our removal men work tirelessly and continuously only stopping for a short break and lunch whilst we went to collect keys for our new house. They were friendly and respectful of our belongings. Whilst not being the cheapest quote we got, we felt that we got a quality service worth every penny and would not hesitate to recommend them to others
