In January 2020 I visited my GP who diagnosed a quite advanced Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC) and said it would require removal and a skin graft. I wanted it done privately and began a search for a consultant. Miss Breahna ( Consultant in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery ) at The Nuffield and Countess Hospitals in Chester met my wishes to see a female consultant who was in mid career, well qualified, and with substantial practical experience. The process of making an appointment went smoothly, administrative and secretarial matters were dealt with promptly and effectively. Miss Breahna was good at dealing with my upset and fear about how serious the condition was, explaining the situation carefully. She listened intently when I asked questions and answered them fully and sympathetically. When the BCC was removed from the front scalp a local anaesthetic was used. Throughout the procedure I was told what was being done and was reassured by the care and the friendliness of everyone. I was confident that the surgery was being expertly carried out. There were regular follow-up visits to change dressings at the donor site and Miss Breahna monitored progress on each occasion. The scalp graft and the donor site have healed well and their appearance is pleasing. It is right to say that the graft is looking very successful. I can strongly recommend Miss Breahna. She manifests a calm and friendly approach to people, and based on my experience she is clearly a highly skilful and knowledgeable plastic surgeon.
