Dunster castle is such a gem. As you approach their are tremendous views of the castle on the hill side. The staff and volunteers are always helpful and very knowledgeable about the history and landscape. The gardens and woodland are lovely for a walk or play, depending on your age. The water mill is another splendid addition to the estate. Then once you have done all of that there is Dunster village itself. The castle grounds are also a great place to start a longer walk past the water mill over the bridge an up into the woods around bats castle and onto the edge of Exmoor.

Loved this place. Really interesting house, make sure you do the kitchen and attic tours. Beautiful gardens.

This is one of the best NT properties. The garden and woods surrounding the castle are stunning, it's such a pleasure to walk around among the variety of flowers and trees, over the bridges. The castle as well has beautiful pieces like the wooden staircase-take your time to look at the engravings! Absolutely a must see!

Dunster Castle is a great place to visit with lots to see. In these times of social distancing the staff at Dunster have put great thought into planning the flow of visitors through the site. The route takes you through the whole site without awkward encounters in the narrow paths. The guides in the house were very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the history. Not all of the rooms in the house are currently open but most are. Outside refreshments available.

The organisation in place to deal with the current pandemic is outstanding. A clearly marked one way system allows safe social distancing as well as access to most areas. A great way to spend a few hours, enjoy a pleasant walk and even stop for a coffee in the garden. Easy to book online to reserve a time to visit. Highly recommended.
