Good staff make you feel at ease.
Always helpful. Will help you pick your glasses if you're not sure if they suit you. With Covid-19 you have to have an extra test. They take a photo of the back of your eye. It doesn't hurt saves them having to get to close looking in your eyes.
Awful experience, would not recommend due to the lack of healthcare focus, and more so the focus on financial benefit from NHS referrals.
My son broke his glasses during COVID-19 lockdown, I managed to order a new pair from Specsavers. The team members who take my payment called my back twice as she had made errors in payment twice prior, this giving my concerns initially. I was advised the glasses would be fit as best as in store until comfort fit was available, when stores were open again.
When collecting the glasses and arriving home they had not been fitted whatsoever- therefore my son had to wear an alternative pair which are not as comfortable. 4 year old’s being as they are, this pair then has become scratched, I then had to fit the new pair myself. Upon fitting them for my son, I noticed they were significantly thicker than his old pair, when I had paid for extra thinning due to his high prescription. However, due to the others being unwearable I had no choice but to let him wear them. After wearing his frames for a whole school day, he arrived home to say his eyes and head felt “fizzy” which I thought was strange, I then took his glasses to clean and looked again at them. I am a very similar prescription to my son, I tried them on and to my horror I couldn’t see a thing through them, to which I can see fine through his usual pair.
I rang Specsavers and left a voicemail as they were closed, then again the next morning where a team member advised me a manager would call me back.
Verity then called me back (not a manager as requested), and explained they would do all they could to rectify, and the reason I may not be able to see through them is because of the magnification due to them being thicker?
I have two pairs of glasses, one thinned and one not. I can see perfectly with both- I see the thickness is zero explanation to why they are not a suitable prescription.
I was offered an appointment very quickly, which was great. I then attended my appointment with my son today. As my son has a very small bridge, it’s hard to find frames that fit well- as Verity acknowledged. We finally found a pair of medal nose pad frames which fit lovely.
Upon the fitting, Verity explained they would be better with the additional £20 thinning, to the ultra thin. I then said surely as a gesture of goodwill due to the errors they should cover that?
She explained that the management team had already said no, as no mistakes had been made. I’m at a loss of how no mistakes have been made when my son has been given glasses which aren’t fit correctly, aren’t thinned when he had a high prescription, and much to the argument of Specsavers aren’t useable as he physically can not see through them.
The only luck of the situation is myself being a glasses wearer and noticing the error, otherwise it concerns me how long my son would of been wearing these incorrect glasses for.
Specsavers have failed to acknowledge any errors on there part as “they ordered them right” even though Verity specified they clearly were not checking glasses prior to customer collections enough. I have had my eyes opened to the fact that, although a health care provider the priority of this company is financial benefit, rather than paediatric care.
Although busy at the time, the staff were helpful and I was pleased with my reading glasses at only £19.
Service is good, they are very strict about covid so making a appointment is essential.
