Cardiff Small Business Guide (09/03/2020)

We visited mint and mustard last night, they are still offering 50% off food and soft drinks until the end of September. From entering we were all asked to sanitise our hands and then had all of our temperatures checked, so we were off to a good start knowing they are taking Covid precautions seriously. We were then seated promptly, and didn't wait long before being asked for our drinks order. I believe their menu is more simplified to what use to be on offer, or it could be during Monday to Wednesdays when they offer the discount. Even so, the choices were more than adequate. We had the chicken trio starter which was cooked really well, and each piece had its own unique taste, we also had the sheekh kebab, which again was tasty. For main we settled for the chicken tikka masala which again had good quality chicken pieces, as well as a tasty sauce which wasn't over spicy. The side dish of jeera aloo went along nicely with the mains. The naan breads and rice were of good quality. We had a great choice of wines to choose from, and overall a nice mid week dining experience. Hopefully we can make use of their extended discount once more this month, for a nice mid week treat.

Upsides. Descent Indian food. Good portions for reasonable price. Well cooked mutton with delicious gravy Good vegetarian food. Indian bread/Naan/roti was spot on as it should be. Courteous staff. Downsides. Chicken gravy, paneer starter and few dishes were too sweet for the palate. Only one high chair for kids. So if there are more than one toddlers at the time better ask to reserve before coming in. Parking may be an issue as it is on a busy road.

The food is always fantastic here. Head & shoulders above your average Indian restaurant. Also, unusually for an Indian restaurant, they have a great selection of desserts! Lovely place.
