Its lovely, I've lived in this town for years and remember hanging out their on mopeds. The irony nowadays is that no-one would actually set out from there to go to any of those places. Before the main town bypass, (and other link roads), this was the main through-fare with traffic from Southgate Street (south), Westgate street (west), Northgate street (north) and East gate Street (east). I imagine this was up until the 50's or 60's or so as I don't personally remember it in its "heyday"

Interesting, historical road sign on the road running past the Abbey Gatehouse and Angel Hotel. A good centre of orientation for the whole town. A lot of cars still clatter past it throughout the day, so watch out as you head towards it.

The Lord led me to see this i believe. Im studying Lots wife and why God chose to turn her in to a pillar of salt. Salt and Light. I see cool God!!

A Grade II listed road sign on Angel Hill, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, England. It was listed in 1998, when it was described as being "individual and probably unique". According to the plaque set at the foot of the sign, it is thought to be the first internally illuminated road sign in the country. Designed by Basil Oliver, architect to Bury St. Edmunds Town Council in 1935, it had to be granted special permission because the height of the letters and numbers did not conform to regulations.
