We booked a tour as part of birthday day out. Our tour guide brought the history of the place alive she explained how the place evolved over the years. she was really well informed and funny too. We would like to return to see a production there as it is so atmospheric.
A restored music hall that now has a mixed use for the performing arts
in a very varied way, magic, puppets,cabaret, dance.
Once scheduled for demolition but saved thanks to donations from Spike Milligan and Pete Sellers etc.
Noted for it's cast iron pillars.
Near the Tower of London and well woth a visit.
Grade II listed.
Such a treat for Victorian age freaks! So much history in one building, great shows, nice bar serving classic drinks and food. Definitely worth visiting - more than once!

This is a great place to see a show. Lots of the interior has been restored, including the lovely ceiling inside, and the balcony. There are walls which are just plaster, which adds to the atmosphere, and gives a sense of age to the building. It's quite small inside and the ground floor seating is not tiered. If possible, I recommend the front row balcony seats facing the stage. Those with longer legs may also be fine on the tall seats in the row behind.
