This tiny cottage offers a great glimpse into the life of country dwellers in the 1600-1800s. It consists of four rooms and a garden and barn. We called in late one afternoon and were the only visitors. The guide was fantastic, telling us the entire history from its original purpose as a glass and iron storage barn, to its conversion to a cottage (due to the glass industry's being banned by the King!). The top floor was a letting room, as the road nearby was a coaching highway. The cottage is small, so can't take lots of visitors at once. So at peak times it's worth phoning in advance to book a visit. An evocative site, this is of the more unusual National Trust properties. Well worth a visit if you're interested in the lives of poorer folk in the past.

Interesting cottage. Great guide. We pre booked a tour for the 3 of us. The guides told us the history of the house and village. There were books to illustrate some of the features

Really interesting tour which brought the place alive. Can't believe this little cottage was still live in in 1982. Well worth a visit.

My nan lives next door to it, so I see it all the time and I have seen some spooky stuff just looking in the window. You might be lucky enough to just about see a woman standing in the top right window from the front.
