So despite the myth magic and fairy tale you would little more see the bottom of this pool than share with a mermaid. Its waters are very muddy but not to deep to not more or less walk from one end to the other. Its not greatly salty and due to the soil salinity. What this place has is just beautiful views and great spot to chill and relax on a alternative route down from kinder.

Guided walk led by the Ranger service was a great way to spend a sunny Sunday. Moderate distance/terrain - though the incline at the beginning front car park had my children wishing they had stayed home. Weather was a bonus - stopped for packed lunch at the side of Mermaids Pool then looped back round and down through the woods. Rangers were superb throughout. A great day out (if you like a hike).

A bit out of the way but definitely worth a visit, coming back next summer for a swim.
