Went to The Botanist, Cardiff last night! Very impressed... We had to move tables but as a thank you, was given a round of drinks free (lovely touch). The starters (calamari, wings and chipolatas) was fabulous and the 4 meals we ordered (3x hanging kebabs and curry)was fantastic... The service, food, cocktails and atmosphere was 10 out of 10.. Can't wait to visit again!!

Dined here with my partner for the first time and last time this week. The atmosphere and the design of the place was what drawn us to it and I have to say that didn't really fail. Its a perfect place for just a drink. Me and my partner both had the "hanging" chicken chorizo kebab which lived up to its name. I can truly say that I have had much better quality chicken from the kebab shop down in Mill Lane. My partner and I were very ill for the next two days, we spare you the details.

We booked in for a brunch at 11:45 and were extremely disappointed to find that they were out of a majority of items on the menu? As it was a set menu for brunch and we booked in advance we were a bit confused how they were able to run out of so many things (no croissants, french toast, Eton mess, jam, or about 1/3 of the other menu items out of an already limited menu) , so our brunch experience was pretty mediocre. For £15 each, we had some pieces of grapefruit, 2 slices of cold seeded bread (out of jam as well), a "chocolate pot" which was just Nutella with some hazelnuts on top, the scrambled tofu was nice and flavourful, and then 1 sausage and 1 piece of undercooked bacon. After hearing so many good things about The Botanist, we were severely disappointed after looking forward to this brunch for 2 weeks. The restaurant itself is lovely and well decorated, but the food was sub-par and we left feeling very disappointed. They comped our coffees after we had to wait over half an hour for those which was a nice gesture but overall very let down.

Really nice location and great setting. A wide range of creative and delicious cocktails on offer, but nothing that really wowed me. The food, however, looked and smelt amazing, so I am tempted to return so we can try it. I understand that things are difficult at the moment due to the pandemic, but at one point we did have to wait 40 minutes for two drinks (one was a beer) after asking three different members of staff.
