Decent enough shop, with useful opening hours for when you need those small essentials. Let's talk about the post office, though... A sign on the door proudly claims, "If we're open, the Post Office is open". Not true - it's pot luck whether they even have the staff to man the post office counter - "come again another day when we have someone who can work the machines" When they do have staff, they seem to be doing anything but deal with the post office customers. Today, I had to wait with dozens of others out in the street for the post office counter. Most everyone in the queue was complaining to the staff because the qualified member of staff decided it would make more sense to stack shelves than serve customers. 25 minutes of queueing. Madness. It's the most conveniently-located post office for the estate, but it really does make more sense to walk into Watford and do your postal business. You'll know the post office is actually open, and although the added walk takes about the same time as hanging around outside the shop, you get a bit of exercise.

The post office staff are so rude. No ‘please’, no ’thank you’, no ’sorry for keeping you waiting’ - for wait you must because service is slow. Today’s customer experience of McColl's post office was terrible, as it is most days. Glum young lady took her time to saunter to the counter, didn’t apologise to the waiting queue, no pleasantries - just surly service. It’s not just her. There’s an old bloke that also works behind the counter from time to time and he’s just as miserable and rude. The shop area and the shop staff are OK.
