Lake Country House Hotel

What can I say, wow, absolutely fantastic. Just returned from a two night stay for my wifes birthday. Staff friendly and helpful, nothing to much trouble, rooms spotless and well presented,, food was excellent, our second visit here, will not be our last, would highly recommend anyone to take a break here.

The staff are so incredibly friendly and helpful, nothing is to much trouble. Beautiful room, very spacious. Gorgeous setting. Food also excellent , we had amazing weather and it was perfect sitting out on the terrace for our dinner. Would like to give Steve a special mention, he could not do enough for us

We spent 4 nights at the hotel and loved it. We will definitely be returning. It is set in the countryside with lovely grounds beside a lake. The hotel felt comfortable and relaxing from the moment we arrived. The service was relaxed and friendly and we cannot rate the staff highly enough. All of them were lovely. The lounge was the most lovely room and had huge comfortable sofa's and chairs perfect to sink into for our apperatifs and canapes before dinner. There was also a cupboard full of board games. The food was amazing. The chef is to be credited with stunning evening meals with imaginative tastes and flavours. My particular favourite was Oat toasted ice cream. Who knew that oat flavoured ice cream was a thing?!! Why not 5 stars? This is being quite picky but would have improved our stay. When we booked on the hotel website you could als book times for dinner and for spa treatments. When we checked in those times hadn't been fed through onto the spa calendar. This meant there was not availability for our initial chosen time which wasn't a big issue for us but could be if you had a lot planned for your trip. Our bedroom was clean and comfortable with plenty of space and a big bathroom. It looked a little dated especially the sofa and the bathroom but peeping into other rooms many others looked more up to date. Breakfast was a bit hit and miss. The quality of the food was great but on Friday morning the scrambled egg was a little dry and the breakfast was not very hot. The Saturday appeared to be a different chef everything was spot on. The following morning it seemed to be back to the first chef and the fourth morning was different again. Finally by the time we got to our fourth night we had tried or had no wish to try everything on the menu although it is slightly different each day. Not a problem if you are only there for a few nights but worth considering if guests are there for longer. The comments above are genuinely meant to be constructive. We would return without a doubt as we had the most lovely time. Do make the effort to stay. You won't be sorry.

Everything was just perfect. Food absolutely wonderful and amazing staff. Lake Country House is a real gem.
