Green Loft Restaurant

Fantastic restaurant. Delicious food and plenty to choose from, great service, lovely decor. The fish n' chips are excellent, just simply unbelievable that's it's vegan because it tastes identical to the real thing.. if not better!

Good range of vegan food but a bit limited for gluten free - the menu is apparently not up to date. There was quite a wait to be served but this seemed to be because there was only one, very lovely and hardworking, young woman doing pretty much everything! Food portions were generous and very tasty. Large interesting venue. Definitely recommended since it is fully vegan.

These are difficult times for restaurants, and The Green Loft is in a weird place. I came here for dinner with family in late September and the place was practically empty - both Chilli Village and The Loft. The Loft itself has a unique vibe with all the plants; it's a quasi-oasis on Welly Road! Service was slow overall and the food did take a while despite few other guests. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt here given covid's strain on staffing. Once the food did arrive, my immediate thought was all the karma I could rake in on /r/wewantplates. The priority with plating seems to be Insta-worthiness rather than practicality. My moussaka came on a wooden board with a braided rope trim. Can you effectively clean this?! All four of us had practical difficulties actually eating the food because of the plating/crockery choice. Not to mention the superfluous garnish that looked good but wasn't really edible - I'm talking carrot tops and suchlike. The thing is...the food is seriously good. We all commented how well seasoned everything was, which is super important with vegan food. It's a crying shame how plating lets the food down because it deserves better. Overall, I'd recommend The Loft, especially as they (seemingly) need the business right now. Simpler, more conventional plating would improve the physical eating experience and probably speed up service too! Let the food speak for itself because it's genuinely that good.
