Partly installation art and a customised “graphical notation of time in light” instrument showing the lunar phase, day and tide cycle rhythms. Erected alongside the equally quirky Floodtide Listening Post, a mechanical “music machine” that plays music dependant on the movement of the Thames tides - water music ? If you don’t get the ebb ‘n flow then you’re unlikely to get the drift.

This odd little device is supposed to show lunar phase, the lunar day and cycles of the tide in graphical form on a dial at the top of the structure. To be honest, if a random person needs a PHD to work out what the dial is showing, then it needs a serious redesign.

Despite it being a small landmark, at the mouth of bow creek/river lea, it shows a time when the area was just docklands. Despite the cars and the feat some people get to for this to be the final destionation (such river lea navigation) it is somewhere to look at take in. The Nearby old Docklands buildings compaired to new redelvopment nearby, Canary whalf and the O2 really shows how this place has change. Its good to sit down here take in this land mark then look around to see the century diffrence of the area.
