Felt pretty safe here during COVID. Because of how timed entries are managed, it never feels over crowded. You can also do walk-up tickets, but definitely recommend getting tickets online in advance so you can guarantee a preferred time slot in advance (and it helps you skip the long ticket line). In general, the earlier you go, the less crowded the overall Pier 39 will be when you're done and are ready to explore Fisherman's Wharf.
So glad they opened their doors during g the pandemic. My young teen who loves ocean life really needed to find some joy after being locked at home for over a year. This place is no Monterey Bay Aquarium, but it's clean, state of the art, and very well organized. The walk through Aquarium tunnel was an awesome entrance to the rest of the place. It will take you about 30 to 45 minutes to go all the way through and see everything. I highly recommend this Aquarium if you live nearby or want a great little experience that won't require a whole day to enjoy.
Me and a friend came here on short notice. About 2 hours before closing. It was either this or the Japanese tea garden. We decided to go for this and WE HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO REGRETS! The aquarium and the rainforest exhibits are definitely worth seeing. It was definitely worth the price for only walking around for only two hours, but you're gonna need a more time than that to truly enjoy the entire experience. I'll definitely be coming back here!
Such a fun place! I've been coming here since I was a teenager and every time that I do, I'm still always blown away and fascinated. It never gets old. Plus they're always making changes and keeping it fresh and exciting. It's a very busy place, lots of people, and always tons of children running around. But even as a 32 year old lady, I turn right into one of those kids running around with the same fascination as them. A great place to learn and explore.
Small, informative aquarium. The underwater tank is full of a variety of fish. Felt like snorkeling for few minutes without having to get wet! There is a line even with prepaid tickets but it moves quickly. Stairs or elevator available.
