Opatija-matulji

Beautiful little train station. We sprinted up the hill with groceries in our hands trying to catch the last train back to Rijeka. The train station appeared to be abandoned, but someone appeared and told us to knock on the window for tickets. A door slid up, money was fed through the aperture, and a two ticket card to Rijeka was provided. A conductor waved a green light in the dark to tell the train to stop and pick us up.

Beautiful historycal place. Also known for the most beautiful garden of Matulji prizes. It's told the building was more representatly built because of Austro-Ungarian Queen and her family. This was their stop point from train to horse carriage to the Abazzia and vacations, through. If you are not in the hurry visit the inside of building.

On of the oldest railway stations in this area. It has lines to Slovenia and to Rijeka
