Perfect price great car and helpful staff,deposit was a bit high but no problems when returned in same conditions.

We hired a car in Zagreb, we already had a booking with all the details of our request, which did not include insurance, as we already had cover through our travel insurance. The sales agent was adamant that we get full protection, telling us that if anything happens without full protection, you will be left alone with no one to help you, this made us feel like Croatia was a very unsafe place and we need the full insurance. The best option to hire a car in Europe is to use a prepaid credit card in the case you have to argue about damages you didn't cause. When we dropped the car off at Dubrovnik they were asking us about damages even though we had full protection.

Terrible service. Their representatives are rude, unfriendly and will almost always blame the customer first. Don’t rent with them

Default limit of Mastercard = €1250. Smart trick to raise the deposit up to €1650 so people are obligated to take an extra insurance to lower this deposit. I think their insurance plan is very (read: way too) strict. A car is made for driving. If a costumer has to pay for the smallest damage (the example they gave: a little stone that hits your car on a highway) which is normal for daily use, I consider this as proper money-making business. This should fall under the insurance of Carwiz themselves. Also car controle by pick up was way less intense than controle by drop off. Like they wanted to find something we had to pay for. We paid 50 euro for drop off with empty tank. They said it's cheaper than refueling at a gasstation. We tanked twice. First time voor 35 euro, second time for 32 euro (!!!). So don't pay it :-) I've rented cars all over the world and this was the least pleasant experience, driving around being scared all the time something would happen to the car. I won't recommend Carwiz for renting a car.
