Sixt Rent a Car - Split

Thank you Sixt once again for helping us make our roadtrip a comfortable experience. Very friendly and open-minded workers, also accepting spontaneous changes. The car was all good and we had no issues to deal with.

Avoid renting from this company! We’ve had great experiences with Sixt at Katowice and Brussels, so decided to use them again. Unfortunately as we’ve found out they are franchised, so the service and terms will differ from country to country. When upon arrival the sales agent started to draw on a piece of paper about the insurance policy options, I was already thinking ‘damn, here we go again’. Theft protection is only included with the highest cover, so expect an additional 20 EUR per day if you want this included. Otherwise you’ll have full, unlimited liability. They will also add a ‘mandatory’ roadside assistance at 5 EUR per day that cannot be taken off of the invoice. These combined will easily double the advertised rental price. This is not the end however. They will try to convince you that you can return the car empty and they’ll refill it. This will cost 56 EUR though which is way more expensive than what you would pay at the petrol station (we’ve paid approx 20 EUR for 4 days worth of fuel which was approx half a tank). Funny enough this is a penalty charge at other locations if you fail to return the car full but they treat it as a ‘service’ here and will try to add it to the invoice upfront. They will also charge an additional fee if you want to use the car on any of the islands. The agent didn’t specify the exact cost for these, I’ve only found out when I’ve thoroughly read the contract, so make sure to do this! When we refused to pay these the agent became visibly upset and failed to provide any further information that would be basic everywhere else, eg if the car is petrol or diesel and where exactly it is parked.

We had a great experience here. The lady at the counter was super friendly and upgraded us to an SUV that was almost brand new! We'll definitely be going back, the fleet all look brand new.

Really good service I assume trying to get they've been reading the reviews! The lady who served us was very helpful and upgraded us from a basic car to an automatic SUV. Pickup and dropoff was easy. They do take a smaller deposit if you pay the extra for excess protection otherwise it's quite a large expense just be warned.

Had such a wonderful experience with these guys. Dragica was amazing! Very helpful. Would absolutely come back.
