A small church I visited on a walk as part of Seno's Zagreb. The church is historically important because it used to be the town cemetery.

St. George's Cemetery and Chapel It was at first a cemetery of the poor, since the 14th century. It was called Cemetery by the Chestnut. In 1622 it was arranged for the burial of the inhabitants of the Upper Town. In that cemetery were buried in 1872. Ljudevit Gaj, 1851. Stanko Vraz, 1874. Fran Kurelac, 1875. prof. Vjekoslav Babukić and July 1845 victims. St. George's Cemetery was one of the largest city cemeteries until 1876, when burials on Mirogoj began. The relatives of Vraz, Gaj, Kurelac and Babukić were transferred to the arcade of the Croatian revivalists on Mirogoj in 1885. In 1895 they were transferred to Mirogoj and the bones of the July victims.

The ancient chapel at the entrance to the park was built as part of the George Cemetery (the present park), which was relocated in the late 19th century. to Mirogoj Cemetery.

... One of the oldest sacral buildings in Zagreb, popular for its collection of the oldest tombstones in the old cemetery, located next to the chapel itself.
