Dubrovnik Orphanage

The orphanage for abandoned children was among the first ones in Europe and was opened back in the 15th century, as a part of monastery(the old monastery of St. Clare, was built on the turn of the 13th to the 14th century, and is the most famous one of 8 female monastic communities in Dubrovnik.)

The orphanage for abandoned children was opened back in the 15th century, as a part of monastery, and it was among the first ones in Europe. When the Dubrovnik Republic was conquered by Napoleon’s soldiers, the monastery was converted into a ammunition storage.

Dubrovnik is one of the most beautiful old towns I have ever visited. It is one of the few cities that still has a completely intact city walls. These can also be entered and run around the entire city around it. That costs however 12 € (June 2019) per person. If you want to see this city you should be here very early because it is so crowded around noon that it is the sheerest thing. It will be better again in the evening.

It is a magnificent environment, very well preserved and of historical interest. Extremely crowded by tourism
