Gorgeous old church and monastery grounds. The walk around the island is short, maybe 20-25 minutes at a slow-to-moderate pace, but the entire island is very beautiful. The water is blue and clear, and full of fish.

Nothing to see, towers are closed, monastery also closed. Just the tiny church is accessible. Wrong boat timetable on the website of the park, boats depart in totally different times. Extremelly overpriced cafè and expensive toilets. Swimming is possible - there are no monks here - and there is also natural shade.

What a beautiful place.

Beautiful little church set in the monastery on the island of Santa Maria, located in the big lake (veliko jezero) inside the island of Méleda (Mljet). It is undoubtedly worth the visit, both for its historical value and for the natural beauty of the landscape. It is also possible to dive into the waters of the big lake: the water is clear and blown, being in communication with the Adriatic sea.
