St Mary's Basilica

At Mary's Basilica on Veliki Brijun dates back to the 5th century. It's walls are still preserved almost to the original height. It belonged to the Knights Templar in the 13th century, until their abolishment in 1312. It is a part of a larger complex of Byzantine Castrum that features findings from the periods of the Roman Republic and Empire, Byzantine Empire and the Republic of Venice.

A beautiful piece of history

Worth walking, very close to castrum.

Very nice ruins of a 6th century build Byzantine church. Very nice and quiet place, the tourist train does not stop here. So visit by foot, bike or golfcart
