Sixt Rent a Car Dubrovnik/Hotel Rixos

Very good and efficient service. We had a flat tire and Sixt immediately send a recovery vehicle and changed the car with an identical new one. Check-in and return was very smooth and the staff was very friendly and incredible helpful. They provided a lot of information for travel in the country. When we returned the car, after finishing the return process, the staff drove us to the check-in terminal and helped with the luggage. Great service and good experience overall.

We rented a car for a day. Agent offered us some insurances and fuel options which we politely declined and he did not insist (Except the 9€ fee to drive overseas indicated on the website). Also we were given some great advices about how to get to Montenegro and things to visit. Only drawback is: contract is in Euros but credit card charged in local currency with an unfavourable rate.

After reading the poor reviews I had some concern about renting from Sixt however my recent experience was entirely pleasant. I was given an upgraded model at no cost, was not pressured to buy any additional insurance or add ons, and had no issue upon return (eg. no mysterious charges for imaginary damages). Thanks Sixt for the affordable one-way rental!

Overall much more hassle renting than other Croatian rental agencies. At checkout was told my credit card insurance wouldn’t work and that I needed to preauthorize 1200 euro deductible invalidating credit card insurance if anything happens but that it doesn’t cover small damages like scratches. Then received vehicle without full tank of gas (realized after driving off that it wasn’t just the car’s fuel level graphic style), returned it at the same level, staff told me I’d be charged 40 euro extra for a full refill, argued back with me about it having been full when given to me, but couldn’t show proof. Seems like a mediocre operation. Other reviews confirm.
