Buying a house as an expat can be a scary process. We don't speak Croatian and we'd heard all sorts of scary stories about buying property overseas. First met with Marija in October 2017 after we had sold a property in Split and was searching for an apartment on Hvar. We had seen an apartment we were interested in and were on our travels to view it. We asked if there was anything else that would fit our criteria. We were met at the ferry port by Marija and we set off to see a house in another location before the apartment we were interested in. We fell in love with the house and the area of Vrboska We had lots of communication with Marija over the previous weeks and the impression from the beginning was that she and balustrade estates were very knowledgeable on the whole of Hvar. this turned out to be very true. We were told (by Marija) that there was a possible problem with the cesspit of the house as it was not connected to the islands sewer system and needed some repairs Marija went to see the neighbors to investigate the problem and resolved it. Ours plans changed somewhat in December and it looked as though we would not be able to continue with the purchase. Marija and Rupert we very understanding and wished us well. Marija came up with an option that could possibly work for us and the seller where we could continue with the purchase on a pre contract for an extended period. PERFECT Mid Feb' completed the pre contract Balustrade estates have been on the ball continuously and continue to be so helpful Through Rupert i have just insured my car for the year using his insurance broker Been in touch with a gardener that will carry out work on the garden before we arrive for the summer.
