Orthodox Church of St. Cyril and Methodius in the square of the town of Vis on the Vis island At the Assembly in the city of Vis-Vis island, held in 1925, a decision was made to move to Orthodoxy. The Serbian Orthodox parish was officially founded on Vis on July 1, 1926, and the first parish was Stanko Ivanovic, who, after his death in 1927, was succeeded by Stevan Javor The last religious rites in the church at Vis were recorded in November 1941, and in 1944 it was damaged in the German bombing. On September 1, 1947, the Synod of the SPC wrote to the State Commission for Religious Affairs that the members of the church municipality from Visa informed them of the intention of the authorities to demolish the Church of St. Cyril and Methodius, and to build a partisan monument in its place. The church was demolished in the autumn of 1963 as part of the 20th anniversary of Tito's arrival to Vis that followed in September of the following year. was planted a palm park, and in the immediate vicinity a monument "We will not, we will not give our own" with the words from Tito's speech. Thirty years later, this monument was removed. According to some allegations, the material of the demolished church was built into the city promenade, and much of it was spent on the construction of the monument of the National Liberation War. The Orthodox Vishans scattered throughout Serbia and the world, and the most famous among them was Orthodox priest Anthony Ante Pinchetic, who retired in the heart of Sumadija, in Arandjelovac.
