You haven’t visit Split if you didn’t walk Marmont street. That is shopping street, street to see and be seen, street that you can stop by Peškaria, best local fish market and buy some still-kicking fish of all sorts. That is street that you can just stroll through and feel the history of this ancient city telling you stories of past and present. Way back it was laid with marble cubes but was replaced with smooth stone for pedestrians to enjoy better walking around. Gallery, club, coffee bar, theatre, fish market, fish and chips, retail.....whatever your desire, once you pass from top to bottom where it opens to fabulous views of Adriatic sea and islands, than you will finally realize why Diocletian once, long time a go, stood there at the same spot and reclaimed a palace to be built for generations to enjoy. Truly everlasting.

This is a nice shopping and (almost) traffic free walking street. It's just outside the walls. So after the ancient Roman sites this feels like another world. It's lined up with the usual (chain) stores, but also some independent shops and restaurants and cafés. It's a lovely made street with nice tiles and very clean. Leading down to the harbour/Promenade. It's great if you need a bit of shopping therapy after checking out all the (very interesting) historic sites here in the amazing town. People are friendly and the prices are pretty low. Good times!

I remember the time when I was passing by 😁 Top promenade that connects the Riva from the interior. Those who did not walk were not in Split.
