Church of St. Lawrence on main square.

St. Lawrence, patron saint of the Diocese of Požega, after which the church bears its name, was built in the late 13th and early 14th centuries. It is celebrated on August 10th. It was converted into a mosque during the Turkish rule until the departure of the Turks in the 17th century. First the Jesuits and then the Paulines govern the church until its abolition by Emperor Joseph II. In 1998, Pope John Paul II confirmed St. Lawrence as patron saint of the Diocese of Požega. The relic of Blessed Aloysius Stepinac as the second patron saint of the church and diocese was built into the main altar.

A church that has survived for centuries. A special spirit. Centuries built into walls. Special.

St. Lovro is the patron of the Požega Diocese. The same church with its history dates back to the 13th century. The last restoration of the church is of a recent date A beautiful massive wooden entrance door fascinates me. It is interesting to look at the interior, because the remains of frescoes are skillfully embedded in a plain white painted wall. Krasi is one of the most beautiful sheds of the day. In its simplicity of performance in the church wall, it is decorated only with lined trellis doors. I would certainly recommend that you visit this interesting church of St. Lawrence.
