In 1689 Johann Weikhard Valvasor made a graphic depiction of the Klan on which the church of St. Hieronimus, suggesting that the church existed in the 17th century. century. Later information reveals that "construction was completed" in 1836, and was consecrated in 1850 by Bishop Bartholomew Legate. Above the main entrance of the parish church of St. Jerome houses a stone plaque with a Latin inscription, which states that the church was completed at the time when the greatest possessor in Klan was Josip Negovetic (landlord), pastor Clement Marotti, and church elders Grgur Gauš and Luka Laginja. In 1870 the Clan was hit by a devastating earthquake, the vault was damaged on the church, the stairs to the main altar, the altar itself. The church is being thoroughly repaired, but major changes will be experienced throughout the twentieth century. The greatest value found in the church is a fragment of a 1439 stone inscribed stone slab. On that fragment it says: "1439 writes it" and is installed above the entrance to the sacristy of the church. This is proof of the use of the Glagolitic alphabet in this area.
