Sixt Rent a Car - Rijeka Aerodrom

Brand new car, pick-up and drop-off were quick and the staff was friendly. They would save themselves and me some time by not trying to upsell.

★★★★★ "I hate to do this" When I took the car I was asked to review for scratches on it. The template I received had marked things in the front and in the back. I found one more scratch and reported it. "Oh yes, I see it. Probably we didn't see it because the car was returned with dust." Everything very easy going, apparently Then comes the moment when you take back the car. A guy reviews it and finds a scratch in the front (the same place where there was a reported scratch in the template). But not, "it is not the same one". "Oh, I hate to do this but you will have to pay for this". So, my car rental included the expected price plus 593.88 EUR for a scratch I am 100% sure that was there when I took the car. I hate to say this, but I am never going to use Sixt services in the future.

Very bad service on all levels: 1. If you reserve a car online, they tell you that you just need to come and pick up the key. We waited in line for one hour and needed to fill in quite some documents afterwards still. 2. You will end up paying way more than what you see during the reservation: you have to pay road side protection, road tax, ferryboat travel fee, and premium location fee of which not all show up during online reservation. 3. Without actually asking, they choose the full/empty tank option for you and tell you it's cheaper for you which is of course not the case. You get a tank which is just full enough to show that it's 8/8 full. After 5-10 km, it was only 7/8 left. After tanking, the 8/8 status stayed for more than 100 km. The cheapest option is thus to tank the car full about 80-90 km before you drop it off again. Even if you give it back with a completely full tank, it will still be about 10 euros cheaper than their scam option. 4. You are asked to pay in kuna with your credit car where you pay another 5% more because of the disadvantageous exchange rate. I am not sure if there are better companies to rent a car from at this airport, but I would definitely not advise this one!

CHECK YOUR CAR OVER FULLY! They will tell you it is OK, but when you bring it back they will find every scratch and charge you for it! Write down every single scratch or damage from the vehicle and take pictures if necessary. Better still - don't use Sixt; they are con artists. My car had existing damage when I returned it and I was charged for it. To make it worse, they gave the same damaged car to another customer afterwards! I even told them there was a rumbling noise coming from one of the wheels - they still gave out a dangerous car to someone else!
