Church of St. Stephen is located in the "St. Stephen's Cemetery". The church itself and the cemetery were built near the monastery from the time that existed in the time of the Dubrovnik Republic. This area is still called Dumasko today. According to localism, dumne, ie nuns. In ancient times, in the time of Rome, while Narona was one of the three ancient convents on the eastern Adriatic coast, in the cemetery of St. Stephen found the tombstones of the stele, the judge and his son, who were buried there. So only the cemetery has a long tradition. As a Catholic, he gets a church after a plague in a completely extinct settlement, called by the locals "the town." There was a pre-Romanesque church of Sts. St. George with the cemetery. The top of the ciborium from that church was visible on the roof of the apse of Sts. Stephen. The church is used today for funeral services, and masses at St. Stjepana 26.12. In the summer of August 3rd, even on the Day of the Dead. The cemetery itself is worth mentioning. Magnificent entrance, fence, cypresses, from the entrance to the church, in front of which is a "municipal cemetery", for those who do not have their own. With op. the cemetery is a "chapel", which has the shape of a traditional church but does not serve in the liturgy, but a convenient room for burial crates, tools for landscaping, cleaning, as well as water bins. Nearby is a water cistern, rainwater, which is used for washing graves, irrigating plants ... Below Pieta and the great cross is a "municipal cemetery". The former Bjelovucic shipowner family has its own church with an altar and burial grounds. Many sculptures console this cemetery with some in white marble, angels, the crucifixion of Christ, special artistic values. The concept of the cemetery has been extraordinarily made, and its expansion in recent years has followed its old form. The graveyard offers an exceptional view of the vineyard, the village of Janjin, the Little Sea, scattered hills. As a RSA friend of mine said, "I would like to die here to know what beauty I will be forever." The locals work around the cemetery, it is a frequent visitation and sometimes they have common actions for landscaping. Very commendable. Remembrance of the dead, thanks ... very subtle.
