Odysseus cave

Visited in September. 20-25 minutes walking distance from the village of Babino Polje, easy to find following the signs on the road. A bit steep while approaching the cave but all in all nice walk on a paved path. If you want to see the cave from inside you need to swim into it. Take your diving equipment. Best time to visit during the day would be around noon as the colors are wonderful.

Beautiful cave, and the sea is divine - the color, the clarity, the fish. The rocks are pink inside the water in the cave, and a sea turqoise when there is sun. It is posible to dive from various heights.The most beautiful place, but to be able to see it you need to know what to expect: 1. Wear comfortable and stabile shoes, not flip flops. You need to hike to get there, and the last part to get there can be a bit tricky. 2. You actually swim into the cave, the hiking trail is closed. So if you want pics from inside think ahead (waterproof bag, go pro etc) 3. Besides hiking, you can reach it by boat, so if you are not comfortable walking on rocks and trails, that might be a better alternative. 4. You do not need much stuff, the less the better. However, if anyhow possible bring diving mask, it is half of the experience to see under the water - the rocks, the fish, the color and perfect rays of sunshine underneath. 5. It is the most beautiful in the morning, i.e. 9-11 AM, and when there is no wind 6. There seem to be a small place where you can get a refreshment but not sure how and if it works.

After a 20min walk from the road, you arrive to a beautiful cave where Odysseus was bewitched by Calypso according to the legend, and you understand why... You can swim in clear crystal water (don't forget your snorkel because there are lots of fishes) and cliff jump from various heights depending on your level (up to 20 meters) !

A beautiful cave that gives off the natural vibe, awesome jump in the water after a 30 min hike down the hill to get there - goin back is a little sweaty and hot, but nothing unbearable - did it in 27 degrees and was fine. Snorkling around is amazing, but there is truly no shade so take an umbrella..

Best jump spot on mljet. And you have to meet the guy in the bar there. He is super nice. Cold drinks, cold beer.
