Our family of 5 are guests to Villa Rosetta's beach bar and the beach below the bar for 2 full months since 7 years which was when we acquired a property 2min away from Villa Rosetta. Daily consumption includes on average numerous coffees, soft drinks, beer, items from the food menu and ice creams. When we do long beach days we also rent their beds on the beach.
In translation it means we spent significant euro amounts at the facilities run by Villa Rosetta contributing to their overall income generated in summer months.
Over all these years i have occasionally seen the owner come to the beach to have a drink with his friends, never his wife who always stays at the main hotel terrace where breakfast and dinner are served. (The owners are an elderly pair in their 70's/80's).
As such it did not surprise me when one late afternoon 2 weeks ago she first approached me (in those 7 years) saying that the watering can was meant for watering flowers and not for playing - the watering can was lying on the grass, fully running and my 2,5 year old son run to it, picked-it up and eagerly started watering the very same grass in the radius of 1m from where he found it (difference: now the can was not on the ground but in his hands).
I did not react beacause ultimately she was right and it is her property but a thought did cross my mind that this woman must be very unhappy. I took my kid away and as we were walking back towards the bar he whispered "witch" into my ear which brought a smile on my face and helped me to quickly forget.
Today however a line was crossed.
Between the main road where the hotel is located and the beach (beach bar) there is a short (and only) c.15m path which you have to use to reach it. At the very end of it, just before the bar there are two flower throughs made of heavy concrete. One is on the right side of the path and the other is about a metre away on the left so one has to "zig-zag" around it to exit the path and reach the beach.
When we were leaving, the flower throughs were suddenly extremely close to each other so that we had to take the kids out of their strollers (2 kids), lift both strollers up and carry them over the flower throughs.
Once this was done, we put the kids back into the strollers and started walking toward the main road. At the end of the path, the owner's wife was angrily looking at us, shooking her head. I asked her what is the matter and she started to yell (in front of the kids) that this is a private road and we have no right using it - she mentined term "budala" several times which is a Croatian word, an insult that could be translated as an "idiot".
The road might be private but we were leaving the bar where we just had our morning coffee, toasts and some ice cream which is what I told her. She turned the back and left.
Two things. It is one thing to be ignorant not knowing who your returning guests of 7 years are but it is a whole new topic when one is in the mental state of mind to have the concrete flower throughs moved in such way to deliberately prevent a child stroller pass (there are tens of families with strollers and carriages daily using the very same path). For that one has to be a total sociopath in need of serious medical treatment.
The hotel is for sale for years. Asking price varies but one can find a EUR 3-4m figures "flying around" the real estate market. One would think that an owner of the facilty he/she wants to get rid-off for years with main two income generatin months of July and August would have the mental capacity to know who daily users of your hotel facilities are and act acordingly. Aparently, too much to expect here.
If it was not for Nikica (the main man behind the beach bar and the beach) and the owner pair's grand kid also working alongside Nikica at the bar, this facility would never see us again. Whatever Nikica is paid, he is well underpaid for having to deal with this individual.
An advice - perhaps she should stick to the kitchen? She fancies herself as an excellent cook...
Can not comment on hotel facilities!
Great restaurant, nice beach. I just don't appreciate they don't allow well behaved dogs.
Amazing cuisine, professional staff, location by the sea, private beach with sunbeds..one can enjoy a snack without going back to the hotel...
It has a private beach with sun beds and umbrellas for a fee, with a bar for snacks and espresso coffee
Super
