Maksimir Park

Stunning park but take it from me if you go at night, stick to the spots with light. I took a wrong turn and with headphones on and zero survival logic, just kept walking until at one point everything was silent and black. Headphones came off and as soon as you realize you hear absolutely nothing, you also begin to hear EVERYTHING. A rustle of leaves, a twig snapping, fluttering of wings or maybe that was your heart telling you to run. But which direction? I swear I heard some guy do a sinister laugh, it was a sound too human for me to tell myself it's just a bird. Then your mind says, ok it's just some dude scaring you. But if some dude is just living in blackness, why is he here, what are his intentions? So I bolted, in the opposite direction of that sound. Then I stepped in something (people walk their dogs at night and don't pick it up, so you know what I thought it was), but I didn't care. I was running for my life. But then I came across a family and seeing them seeing me running I realized that I'm the one looking like a threat. By the time I had slowed down and rediscovered civilization, the beautiful clean air and genuine peace had reoccupied my conscience, and I left being happy and with only slightly wet shoes (just a puddle turns out), but needing to leave a note for any brave night adventurers. Go during the day, but don't get lost at night. A forest is still a forest.

I love Maksimir. It is a place where you can go walking, bike riding, running, skating or you can just sit, relax and read a book. It doesn't matter if you are old or young you can rest your soul here. There is a zoo, a lake, forest, playground. You name it. There is also a restaurant if you feel hungry. And on every 50 meters you can buy yourself an ice cream. If you ever come to Zagreb come and just have a walk.

Great for bike rides. Peaceful with beautiful nature.

It is the Green Heart of Zagreb. Hug an old tree, watch still surface of the lakes, collect leaves, try to find a squirrel, enjoy the quietness...do whatever to find your inner peace and soak up the energy. It is the best place to escape the rush hours, have a picnic, spend time with your loved ones...

Giant park with lots of paths. Easy to get lost in, but you'll love it because it's a great park in the heart of the city. It's like the Central Park of Eastern Europe.
