Wonderful church, excellent priest

The Parish Church of the Holy Cross in Rasinja (1635-1790) is an example of the sacral architecture of northwestern Croatia, which A. Horvat placed "between Gothic and Baroque." The one-nave structure with a semicircular shrine and a bell tower in the façade was built on the foundations of an older Gothic church that was destroyed by the Turks in 1532. In 1635, the restoration of the church began, which lasted until 1790. This is confirmed by the visible elements of the earlier Gothic building: the triangular arc of the arch between the shrine and the nave of the church, and the system of buttresses supporting the outer walls of the shrine. Above the shrine was erected today a demolished choir with masses attended by members of the Inkey noble family and high guests. The church was thoroughly renovated in 2001.
