With a little care, these buildings could be a focal point of the whole area, yet it is painfully neglected.

Esterházy Castle, built at the request of Count Miklós Esterházy on the site of the former castle, gained its present form in 1776. The castle was built according to the plans of Jakab Fellner on the shores of the Old Lake on the Tata estate purchased in 1927. The castle, which suffered from World War II, has been managed by the National Guardian of Monuments since 1999. There are rows of rooms on the ground floor and first floor of the Great Castle. On the ground floor there is also a dining room, a ballroom and a count's suite. The former chapel is located in the north tower, which was converted into a washroom and shower after World War II, when the building functioned as a hospital. On the upper level, in addition to the halls, there is also a dining room. The castle also has a romantic garden designed by architect Karl Ritter. There are architectural and sculptural treasures in the garden. Esterházy Castle also has a Small Castle, which is connected to the Great Castle itself by its outbuildings. The castle functioned as a nerve sanatorium before renovation work began, and the hospital was closed in 1990.
