Around 1676, the Turkish pasha of Eger allowed the then unpopulated Poroszló to be moved by Calvinist fishermen around Tokaj, who restored the Benedictine abbey church, which had existed since 1209 and was built in the 16th century. It was used by the Reformed inhabitants from the end of the 19th century. In 1790, this old church was demolished by the Reformed and a new, late Baroque church was built a mile away, from 1790-93. In front of the western façade, the 34 m high tower was built in 1808. In 1906, the church was enlarged with the south aisle, the organ was housed in its porch, and a plaque commemorating the construction of the church was placed in front of it.
